The Allentown Guild of the Catholic Medical Association was chartered in March of 2009, with the blessing of the Most Reverend Edward P. Cullen, DD, Bishop of Allentown, after two years of the Spiritual encouragement of Monsignor James J. Mulligan, diocesan ethicist, and Most Reverend Father Robert Kosek, Provincial of the Barnabites and founder of the Medical Society of Saint Anthony Mary Zaccaria.

The Allentown Guild is an Organization of the Secretariat for Catholic Life and Evangelization in the Diocese of Allentown. The Most Reverend Alfred A. Schlert, DD, JCL has shepherded the guild since his ordination as Bishop of Allentown in June 2017.

In September 2025, The Most Reverend Alfred Schlert appointed Rev. Giuseppe Esposito, pastor of St. Anne’s parish in Bethlehem, as the guild’s chaplain.
